The Secret of Fast Weight Loss Discussed - Is There Really a Miracle Solution?

The secret of fast weight loss is that there really is no secret to fast weight loss. The idea that there is a “secret” is one that is pushed by diet companies whether they are trying to sell you diet foods, pills or even surgery. If you believe there is a secret and they have it then chances are you will buy their product. But the truth is there really is no secret and I’ll tell you all you need to know in this article.

Believe it or not, to lose weight too fast is actually bad for you. It places you at greater risk of developing an eating disorder and increases the chance that you will actually gain more weight in the future. This is because your body becomes tricked into thinking that there is a food shortage so when you do eat, your body actually retains more of the food and so you put on more weight.

So what is fast weight loss? For the average person it is between 2 and 5lbs per week. This is a safe fast weight loss. Be extremely cautious of anything that promises more. There is no special machine, exercise plan, diet, pill or operation that allows you to lose weight fast safely and healthily. Every single one of these so called miracle solutions has risks and the truth is they are simply not necessary.

Try drinking a glass of water when you feel hungry - often hunger pains are actually caused by thirst and you will be surprised how much better you feel once you’ve had a drink. And if you still feel hungry then you probably are.

Try eating your food more slowly. Research now suggests that it can take 20 minutes for your stomach to get the message back to your brain that you now have the food you need and for the hunger feelings to stop. By eating your food quickly you are not giving enough time for the message to get back to your brain so you actually carry on eating when you don’t need to.

What I consider to be the secret to fast weight loss is that all foods are good - just in moderation. (Its only secret because it contradicts what a lot of these expensive diets tell you) Why? Think about diets you have tried in the past where you’ve cut out the foods you love. I bet you found yourself cheating and ultimately giving up on your diet. By eating foods you enjoy but in the right amounts you create a diet that will help you to lose weight and that you will find easier to stick to in the longer term.

So, as I said at the start of this article the secret to fast weight loss is that there really isn’t one. You should aim for no more than 2-5lbs a week to stay healthy and you should do it be eating a wide variety of foods that you enjoy (in the right amounts) as part of a balanced diet.
