Proscar for treating prostatic hypertrophy

Proscar is a drug prescribed for treating benign prostatic hypertrophy.

The drug comes in tablet form and can be taken with meals or in empty stomach. While taking the drug, strictly follow the doctor. Never take more doses or take the medicine for longer periods other than told by the doctor. Keep a tab on the doses and take the doses at the right time.

When you are taking proscar, you should keep your appointments as the doctor needs to monitor your health conditions, especially for prostate cancer and prostate specific antigen, at regular intervals.

You have to tell your doctor if you have any allergies to any particular medicine, food or any substance. Tell your doctor if you have any of these conditions: liver disease, bladder muscle disorder, prostate cancer, stricture of urethra and urinating problems.

Proscar is only for men. Women and children should never come in contact with proscar as the drug is absorbed into the body through the skin. Pregnant women and breast feeding women should be more careful as the drug is known to cause harm to the foetus and the newborn.

Before the doctor prescribes Proscar, it is better to inform him about all the medicines, including over-the-counter drugs and prescription drugs, which you are taking. This is needed as some medicines are known to interact with Proscar.

You should also be careful about the allergic reactions and side effects that come with Proscar. In case you come across any allergies or feel uneasiness, contact the doctor immediately.
