How to Lose Love Handles With Smart Eating

Learning how to lose love handles is easy with the right mix of diet, portion control, aerobic exercise, and toning exercise. The foundation of your program must start with the right diet. A healthy diet makes it easier for your body to burn the excess fat, which is what love handles are made of, and feed the muscle underneath.

You start with eating fat-burning friendly foods. Eat plenty of lean protein, and foods high in Vitamins B & C, and fiber. Foods high in protein help you feed your muscle even as you burn the fat. Since muscle keeps your engine burning hot, you do not want to lose it.

Good sources of lean protein include:

  • Chicken
  • Turkey
  • Fish (salmon, tuna)
  • Lean beef (top round, flank steak, sirloin)
  • Beans
  • Nuts (but limit your serving sizes to 1/4 cup)

One word of warning: dairy products can be a good source of protein, but some people have hidden food allergies to them as well as wheat products (breads, pastas, pastries, bagels, etc), which causes them to bloat and retain water. I recommend you eliminate those or severely limit them until you get rid of your love handles. Then, try adding them back into your diet gradually. But if you start feeling bloated and water logged, then consider making that change permanent.

Next on your list of must eat foods to lose love handles are foods high in Vitamin B & C, which helps your body convert food into energy - the better to be burned and not stored as fat in love handles! Be sure to include abundant sources of these vitamins in your daily diet:

Examples include:

  • Turnips, collards, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, green peppers
  • Cauliflower, cucumber
  • Oranges, tangerines, grapefruit
  • Kiwi fruit and strawberries

Next, eat plenty of foods high in fiber like:

  • Turnips, Collards, Spinach
  • Tomatoes, Beans, Peas
  • Apples and Pears

Needless to say, you want to limit your exposure to hardcore fast foods like burgers, fries, and the like. They pack a lot of fat, which if not burned, will end up adding volume to your love handles. If you do have them, get the smaller sizes. Remember, supersize your meal, supersize yourself.

Finally, drink 1/2 of your body weight in ounces of water each day (add a pinch of ginger to each glass of water to give it a kick and ease your digestion), take stress formula multivitamin (contain extra B and C vitamins which are depleted with stress and excess sugar intake) and take a caplet of flax seed or fish oil with each meal (slows the release of insulin, which is a fat storing hormone).

Eating the right diet is the first step in how to lose love handles. Not only will you lose the fat, but you will gain energy and vitality that will make you feel good as you slim down.
